With all of these features and the fact that VP-ASP is written in VBScript making it easy to customize and extend,
VP-ASP is an excellent choice for integration into your ERP platform. To assist you in this goal, Syteview
gives you the tools you need to use your live Syteline™ data in VP-ASP.
Syteview/VP-ASP Integration Goals
The following are the goals we attempted to achieve in integrating Syteview with the VP-ASP e-Commerce program:
- No modifications to the VP-ASP database schema.
- No modifications to your ERP database schema.
- Make only minimal changes to the VP-ASP codebase.
- Use real-time data from your ERP database in VP-ASP.
- Enable the use of your ERP inventory pricing logic in VP-ASP.
- Present only a subset of your ERP inventory in VP-ASP if desired.
- Do not allow updates from the VP-ASP web site to your ERP database.
- Use Windows Authentication (NT or Active Directory) to manage customer accounts if desired.
We were able to achieve most of these goals simply by redesigning the data flow into the VP-ASP program.
By using the Data View structures that Syteview uses to provide you with a Single Data Interface
we were able to use the VP-ASP program's presentation, sales and management capabilities with your live ERP data.
See Figure 1 for a graphical representation of this redesigned data flow.
Using your ERP inventory pricing logic in VP-ASP presented a special problem, and did require the use of external logic
which we encapsulated in a Stored Procedure in the SyteShop database.
