Syteview gives you the tools you need to replicate your data from a
Progress database server to a Microsoft SQL Server
in real-time. This Microsoft SQL
Server is used to isolate and protect your Progress server from the internet while at
the same time taking almost all of the processing load of publishing the data off of the Progress server so it can continue
with its other tasks unimpeded.
Once your data is replicated to your Microsoft SQL Server it is fully integrated into the
Microsoft world where it can be easily integrated with your other enterprise applications and those of your business
partners. Progress makes an excellent database server. Fast, secure, reliable and scalable, but not
easily integrated with other applications. Microsoft, on the other hand, commands the enviable market share that
makes almost all software vendors provide a way integrate their products with it.
Microsoft's SQL Server 2000 supports all of the latest integration methods and interfaces.
From XML output, to SOAP services, to ODBC interfaces, to SQL Mail, and many others, SQL Server 2000 makes it possible to
integrate your data and business processes with almost any other application. To assist you in this process,
Syteview provides you with a large set of SQL Server Stored Procedures that can be called to retrieve your data.
You also get the source code with Syteview, making it easy to integrate Syteview with other
programs. The current version of Syteview is fully integrated with
Microsoft Outlook Web Access, VP-ASP E-Commerce software and
Battleaxe Software Forums. We are currently working
on integrating Syteview and your data with Microsoft Reporting
Services and Microsoft CRM. We would be happy
to assist you in any special integration needs you might have.
Syteview also provides you with the tools and programs that you need to tightly integrate a
Microsoft IIS web server with your Microsoft SQL Server. A special
Syteview data control resides on your web server and handles requests for data from your
users or business processes. This data control authenticates the user or process initiating the data request,
filters out any potentially harmful SQL code, and then passes the data request on to your Microsoft SQL Server.
When the SQL Server receives the data request from your web server it re-authenticates the original user requesting the
data, and then processes the request and returns the data to the web server where it is formatted into an HTML table and
returned to the original user or process that requested the data.
In addition to using your Microsoft SQL Server to integrate your Progress data and business
processes with your other business applications and those of your business partners Syteview gives
you the tools you need to directly integrate your Progess database server. The
DataGrabber and DataLink programs that
Syteview uses to move your data from your Progress database to your Microsoft SQL Server database are written in Microsoft
Visual Basic and they come complete with source code.
This source code makes it easy for you to customize these programs and use them as starting points for integration programs
of your own. The DataLink programs in particular give you notification of and access to every record created,
modified or deleted in your Progress database.
For distributed data environments our SyteLink program allows you to replicate your data
transactions in real-time to multiple destinations across the internet. Using SyteLinks you can easily link your
ERP database tables to other database and spreadsheet tables anywhere in the world.
