Syteview has no special hardware requirements. Any hardware configuration capable
of running your Microsoft IIS web server, Microsoft SQL Server and Progress database server is acceptable. Each
of the above servers can, but do not have to run on the same computer. We have found that running all three servers
on a 1 ghz Pentium IV system with 756 meg of RAM and a fast SCSI hard drive provides acceptable performance for
approximately 30 users.
Syteview has been designed with scalability in mind. One Microsoft SQL Server can
retrieve data from any number of Progress database servers. Any number of SQL Servers can then be kept in-sync
using Microsoft SQL Server Replication services.
Each of the SQL Servers can then provide data services to multiple Microsoft IIS web servers which publish the
data to the internet. From one system running everything to a distributed, highly scalable network of web and
database servers, Syteview allows you to publish your data your way. See the Syteview
Design and Architecture pages for more information on designing a secure and
scalable data publishing system.
